For those of you who are not familiar with this event, here are some details: CPA Career Connections is an event hosted by CPA Alberta for high school students and their parents to explore Business & Accounting careers and post-secondary programs. The evening will feature a panel of Chartered Professional Accountants who will speak about their diverse career paths and answer questions from the audience. The event is also attended by Alberta post-secondary institutions who will be available to answer questions about their business and accounting programs. We will have recruiters present to talk to students and their families about the prerequisites needed to be eligible for the paid education program. There also will be a presentation to explain how the application process works at each stage and what to expect along the way. We will discuss grades, courses needed, and different jobs that they can apply for. Great for students who might be thinking about the military or just want to get their education paid for. This is open to everyone but it is tailored for students from grades 10 to 12. Applicants are asked to reflect on past experiences, accomplishments, and challenges in a handful of short essay questions. Students who apply by December 1, 2018 will be automatically considered. • The UBC Centennial Scholars Entrance Award improves access to post-secondary education for exceptional students who face significant financial barriers, with awards of up to $80,000. A separate application is required and the deadline to apply is December 1, 2018. A number of Presidential Scholars Awards and Centennial Scholars Entrance Awards are designated specifically for Aboriginal students. Applicants can self-identify as Aboriginal in their online application to UBC. International undergraduate entrance scholarships UBC also recognizes the achievements of outstanding students from around the world by devoting non-public funds to scholarships and awards for international students.
